Care and documentation from day one
After an accident you need two things at the same time: treatment that actually helps, and records that accurately show what happened to your body. Our providers do both. Every personal injury patient gets a full exam, imaging when it is indicated, and notes written so that your insurer or your attorney can follow your care from start to finish.
Dr. Stowe has spent his career assessing traumatic musculoskeletal injuries and works with personal injury cases every day across our six North Texas clinics.
What we treat after an accident
- Whiplash and neck sprain or strain
- Back injuries and disc injuries
- Headaches and post-accident concussion symptoms
- Shoulder, hip and knee pain from the impact or the seat belt
- Numbness, tingling and radiating pain
- Soft tissue injuries that do not show on an X-ray
How paying for care usually works
In Texas the at-fault driver's insurance is generally responsible for your injuries. Until a claim settles, care is commonly covered through your own Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or MedPay, your health insurance, or an arrangement with your attorney. Call us and we will walk through your options before your first visit.
What should you do in the first few days after an accident in North Texas?
Get emergency care first if you need it, then book a full exam within a few days, even if you feel mostly fine. Write down how the accident happened, photograph your injuries and the scene, keep every receipt, and tell each provider the same complete story about what hurts.
The days right after an accident are when details are freshest and easiest to lose. A short written timeline helps: the date and time, where you were sitting or standing, which direction the impact came from, and what you felt that day, the next morning and the day after. Bring it to your first visit at Spine Health & Wellness.
Keep a folder, paper or digital, for the crash or incident report number, the other party's insurance details, photos, medical bills, pharmacy receipts and notes about missed work. If you decide to work with an attorney later, this folder saves time and prevents gaps.
- Go to the ER or call 911 for severe pain, confusion, trouble breathing, weakness or loss of bladder or bowel control
- Report the accident to the police, the property owner or your employer, as fits the situation
- Photograph visible bruises, seat belt marks and swelling while they are still visible
- Schedule an exam and follow the care plan you agree to
What does an accident injury care plan at Spine Health & Wellness include?
A care plan starts with a full exam and, when indicated, imaging. From there it can combine chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy, physical therapy and rehabilitation exercise, with medical oversight from our Medical Director. The plan names your goals, how often you will be seen, and when progress will be checked again.
Our team includes chiropractors, a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner, a Texas licensed physical therapist and Dr. Jason Kouri, MD, our Medical Director, who oversees diagnostic and treatment protocols. Having these roles under one practice means your care can move from pain relief to strength and function without starting over somewhere new.
We also coordinate with care you receive elsewhere. If an ER doctor, primary care physician or specialist is already involved, tell us, and bring their notes. Coordinated care avoids duplicate tests, keeps medications and restrictions in view, and gives your records one consistent account of your recovery.
Plans change as you do. We re-examine you at intervals, compare your range of motion and function to where you started, and adjust. If your injuries need a specialist or advanced imaging such as an MRI, we refer you and keep your records connected.
Why do accident records matter as much as the treatment itself?
Accurate records show what was injured, how it affected your daily life and how you responded to care. Insurers and attorneys generally rely on those records, not on memory, when a claim is reviewed. Clear, consistent notes from the first visit to the last protect you and make your recovery easy to follow.
Good documentation is specific. It records the mechanism of injury, exam findings, pain levels, what you cannot do at home or work, and changes over time. Vague notes such as feeling better tell very little. Our notes are written so another provider could pick up your chart and understand your case.
Records also depend on you. Come to scheduled visits, tell us about new symptoms and old injuries, and let us know if something outside the clinic, such as a new job or another accident, changes how you feel. Honest, complete history keeps your records accurate.
Which types of accidents does our personal injury care cover?
We treat people hurt in car, truck, motorcycle and rideshare crashes, pedestrians and cyclists struck by vehicles, and people injured in falls on someone else's property. Each type of accident tends to injure the body in its own way, so each has its own page with details on care, documentation and next steps.
If you are unsure how to pay for care, start with our page on PIP, MedPay and paying for accident care. If your symptoms showed up days after the accident, see our page on delayed pain. Attorneys referring a client can find records and referral details on our page for attorneys.
If you were hurt while working, including while driving for work, your care may fall under workers' compensation instead. Our workers' compensation pages explain how that system works in Texas and for federal employees.
Whatever brought you in, the first step is the same: a thorough exam at the Spine Health & Wellness clinic closest to you, in Irving, Bedford, Grapevine, Arlington, Carrollton or Fort Worth. Call (972) 556-5667 to schedule, and tell us the date and type of accident when you book.
