Frequently asked questions

Is the Posture & Breathing webinar from Spine Health & Wellness still open for registration?
No, registration for this specific webinar is now closed since it was a one time live event held on August 28, 2024. The session covered the connection between posture, breathing, and overall wellness, led by Dr. Jason Laureles. Patients interested in similar guidance can contact a North Texas clinic location directly to ask about future educational events or to schedule an individual evaluation of posture and breathing patterns.
How can posture affect breathing and overall wellness?
Posture and breathing are closely linked, since poor alignment can restrict how fully the diaphragm and rib cage expand, potentially limiting airflow and increasing muscle tension. Improving posture and breathing mechanics may support mental clarity, circulation, and stress relief for some individuals, though results vary by person. Anyone with sudden chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or bluish lips should seek emergency care rather than relying on posture correction alone.
What are diaphragmatic breathing exercises and who can benefit from them?
Diaphragmatic breathing exercises are techniques that train you to breathe using your diaphragm rather than shallow chest breathing, which may help strengthen the core and support better ergonomics. According to the webinar content, both athletes wanting to improve performance and everyday individuals seeking stress relief or reduced muscle tension could potentially benefit. These exercises are generally considered low risk but should not replace evaluation of persistent pain or breathing difficulty.
