Afshan Shaikh PT, MPT, CLT
Afshan Shaikh PT, MPT, CLT is a Texas state licensed Physical therapist who received her Bachelor in Physical therapy from India. She completed her professional training and earned a Masters in Physical therapy with a specialization in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Sciences, certified lymphedema therapist (CLT) from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, and has completed Clinical Pilates instructor certification from Australia. She practiced in various clinical settings for seven years in India before moving to Australia.
Afshan has over eight years of clinical experience in general orthopedics, work injury rehab, pre-post surgical care, fitness appraisal, and injury prevention. She works with clients from various age groups and across all activity levels from highly sedentary to highly active populations. She evaluates and treats with a holistic approach that combines knowledge and understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and function within the context of movement patterns. Her skills range from restoring compromised mobility, strength, and stability through a variety of manual techniques, modalities, progressive exercise, and education. She enjoys a solid rapport with her patients and a clinical problem-solving approach. She designs exercise programs for her patients based on their needs and makes sure their needs are met.
Afshan enjoys traveling and will read anything at arm's length. Her future aspirations are to complete a DPT with a Ph.D. specializing in oncology. She believes in the mantra of helping people.
